New Identities: A Must-See Salon for a New You

New Identities Hair Studio is a must-see salon. With locations in both Tampa Palms (the New Tampa area) and Riverview/Apollo Beach, a big part of the Greater Tampa Bay area can travel there quickly. For those of us located a bit farther out, New Identities is worth the trip!

The owners and staff at New Identities have years of experience, and the services offered include something for everyone. Like most people with busy schedules, I like getting everything done at one salon, and a salon that is a beautiful place with talented people makes my beauty time even more enjoyable. Proper Training…Always in Fashion: Art Institute of Tampa

Fashion Week Tampa Bay and The Art Institute of Tampa – a perfect pairing in my mind, that’s for sure and we’re thrilled to have Art Institute as a Tampa Bay Fashion Club sponsor for the fourth year in a row.

The Art Institute of Tampa is an incredible school offering varying degrees from a top-notch faculty.  Maybe you are interested in the Culinary Arts – they have the training, maybe something in Web Design & Development, beginning and advanced – they have the training, or maybe your “Fashionista” desires lean towards Fashion Retailing and Management – once again, they offer the training.

As a former boutique owner, I speak from experience when I say that the Fashion Retailing and Management training you can get at The Art Institute will definitely give you a head start in the Fashion industry.

VERTICAL Tampa Bay Magazine is a virtual magazine that celebrates Tampa Bay fashion, flavor, travel, culture and beauty in every issue. Since Leslie Joy Ickowitz started the magazine in 2009, they’ve had high readership and involvement in the community. We love their stories and beautiful photography. They’ve even featured some of the TBFW designers, like Kimberly Hendrix (the picture above is Kimberly’s work on a previous cover)! Enjoy their latest (and 2nd anniversary) issue here.

Yelp

 

Yelp was founded in 2004 to help people find great local businesses like dentists, hair stylists and mechanics. How it works is businesses setup a free account to post photos, promotions and message customers. Then customers write reviews about the business on their Yelp page. In addition to reviews, you can use Yelp to find events (like Fashion Week Tampa Bay), lists and to talk with other Yelpers. They automatically filter reviews submitted to avoid displaying any suspicious ones. Users can count on Yelp! Download their mobile app and go to their website to start yelping!

Terri Funaro ~ Fashion Designer

This fall Tampa Bay Fashion week is please to have Terri Funaro showcasing on the runway again. Last year’s showcase of elegant evening and bridal wear was a true pleasure to watch!

Having 15 years in the fashion industry, Terri is truly a veteran in the game and one to watch. Terri began her career in New York and since relocating to Tampa, Terri has spent her time designing bridal wear, all while instructing at the International Academy of Design and Technology. Terri has used her talent to create some breathtaking, sophisticated bridal gowns, pageant dresses, prom gowns, mother-of-the-bride and bridesmaid dresses. Her ability to make beautiful gowns that are flattering and wearable brings beautiful designs to all women. From the length, to the color and style, any one of Tampa’s socialites can find the perfect gown for whatever event she has on her fall/winter calender.

Last year’s use of neutral, beautiful shades of champagnes and grays leaves us wondering what amazing gowns Terri will grace us with at this year’s show. Can’t wait!

House of Donshey

As every fashionista knows, no outfit is complete without accessorizing. That is exactly what Tampa Bay Fashion Week featured designer, Dolly Donshey, creates. From unique hats to a jewelry collection launched earlier this month, her work can best be described as one-of-a-kind wearable art.

Dolly Donshey began her career studying under the renowned Jan Wutkowski, alumni of the Melbourne School of Millinery in Australia. This is when Dolly discovered her passion for hat making and designing which eventually led to the establishment of House of Donshey Custom Millinery in January 2009.

Upon completion of her first full collection, Dolly began to heavily promote her inventive hat lines while working towards the goal of becoming Florida’s number one milliner and introducing her designs around the world. Since debuting, her designs have been featured on Fox 13 as well as in several local and regional fashion shows and magazine publications.

We look forward to seeing Dolly Donshey’s unique pieces on the runway as her Fall 2012 “Cycles” collection premieres on September 23rd at Tampa Bay Fashion Week.

Renee Scarborough of Two Coconuts

Join us as we welcome Renee Scarborough, owner of Two Coconuts, to Tampa Bay Fashion Week 2011!

Two Coconuts brings sophistication and comfort to all your swim wear and resort wear. Renee, a native of St. Pete, understood how uncomfortable and ill-fitting swimsuits could be, because of this she began creating her own designs for herself. Soon her friends began asking for swim suits and sun dresses for themselves, bringing to life Two Coconuts Swimwear. For 15 years, Renee has been creating her custom swim wear that can be worn by all women. Two Coconuts has a wide selection of swim suits, from bikinis, tankinis and one pieces, with tons of prints to choose from!

Renee’s debut at Fashion Week will surely take the audience back to their summer days on the beach with her beautiful designs of swim wear and sun dresses!

Model Behavior Cocktail Reception
